Default Hi from New Zealand

Hi to anyone who might remember a mad Kiwi redhead who arrived in Sark in '87 to work at Dixcart when it was run by the memorable Peggy Ravenshaw & stayed on for a couple of years. I fell in love with Sark then and still hold it dear - in fact if I ever have trouble going to sleep I imagine going up the Harbour Hill by toast-rack, arriving at Dixcart for the first time, walking to La Jaspellerie or down to Dixcart Bay, trudging up to the Avenue in winter with Peggy's dog Hugo, discos at the Mermaid, whisperings of patois coming to an abrupt end if you came into earshot. I have bored countless people with the virtues of life on your island ever since, including my husband, & hope we might get a chance to visit one of these days. In the meantime I find myself living in the heart of NZ dairy country just south of Auckland, between two farms - one of which is owned by an old Jerseyman named Le Cornu, farming lovely golden Jerseys. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers those days. Cheers, Trish Harvey (nee Maben)

Hello Trish, welcome to the forum. I too was working in Sark in the late 1980's. I worked at La Sablonniere in 1988 and love visiting as often as I can ... which is not often enough!!! I currently live in North Yorkshire, but hope to relocate permanently to the Bailiwick of Guernsey as soon as is possible!
